Royal Artillery WW2
« on: Friday 02 September 05 09:33 BST (UK) »
Hi all

My Grandfather Bernard Hogan was a gunner during ww2 with the Royal Artillery .You can read about him here http://www.freewebs.com/bernardhoganmaltaitalyww2/

He served in Malta with the 12th field regiment then in Italy with the 51 Medium Regiment,i believe it to be part of the 8th army 10 corps.

Hoping to find out where he was stationed in Malta or where he would have gone through Italy. He died in Jan 1944 and is buried at Minturno War Cemetery.

Many Thanks

Anthony.

Glad to find something you haven't seen already! but I wasn't able to find the answer to your question about Malta and Italy!
Let me know if you can find it here! I'm sure there will be other people able to answer your question! but I will keep on looking OK?

Annie

By the way - did you have your photos somewhere else ? - Scottie Press maybe? ::)

The only other clearish pic is this one where I don't think there is anything on his arm, that I can see.

I can't understand how those hats stayed on

This was taken pre war, I know that he was based up at Lake Como, in Italy and was occasionally attached to US or Canadian units.  He also spent time in Sicilly, he mentioned during the first Gulf war, that he had been to Basra during WWII as well as North Africa, just before being demobbed he was transferred to the Essex Regiment.

If I come across anything I let you have it
