Hi all, I'm researching the Flynn family from the Canal Street area of Preston and use Lancashire BMD a bit as it gives some good info.
Some births however appear to be registered twice with a different mother's maiden name each time.
I've been looking at the Farrell family:
Martin Farrell born Preston 1859
Thomas Farrell born Preston 1862
John Farrell born Preston 1863
Mary Farrell born Preston 1866
All four birth appear with the mother's maiden name of Gaughan (or similar spellings) and Flynn/Flinn
In 1858 there is a marriage of John Farrell and Mary Gaughan in Preston but no marriage between a Farrell and a Flynn/Flinn in this period.
John and Mary Farrell appear in Preston on the 1861 & 71 censuses with their children (John Farrell junior dies) in 1868. But I'm struggling to find them in 1881.
Does anyone know a possible reason why a birth is recorded twice?
Thanks
Lee
