Passenger lists - ship Asia
« on: Thursday 23 December 21 18:51 GMT (UK) »
Do any passenger lists survive for a ship called Asia, arriving in Australia.

In 1835, Henry Brown is granted permission to marry Mary Lewis. She was a convict who arrived on the ship George Hibbert in 1834.

On the image of the permission to marry, Henry “came free”. The permission was granted in 1835, and Henry’s age is given as 25.

As to when he arrived, and where he came from, I have not a clue, and was hoping a passenger list would answer  this.

Thank you
Lisa

I am confused. You say Mary arrived on the GEORGE HIBBARD, and you have no idea when Henry arrived. So why are you looking for the ship ASIA?
There were numerous voyages for that ship.
You could try looking here.

in the image of their permission to marry, the ship name Asia is written against Henry's name.

Thanks for this.  It does make the "came free" bit a little confusing.

You are looking at two different marriages.
Henry Brown the convict  on ASIA married Amelia Baker, not Mary Lewis.
