Have I come to the end of line, where to look next ?
« on: Saturday 25 December 21 20:55 GMT (UK) »
Ive followed a George Brocklehurst born  ( roughly 1795-1802 ) Stockport from his sons marriage certificate and  throughout the census records but I cant find his parents or any siblings and I'm not convinced by his marriage to Ann Williams I'm on the right track .
Ive recently found a possible baptism  in 1793  Presbyterian Church , Stockport  -parents  Samuel  & Sarah  but again nothing in the census to connect them to " my " George. As i found in the past, sometimes the place of birth given as the place they are living at the time of the census  or baptism, I guess not all were baptised . As you are all probably aware it's nightmare ,I have spent months  on this chap ,  I just hope I've not come to end of the line.  Do I really need to eliminate all the George Brocklehursts  ( follow them from birth to death ) in my search  or is there any easier way ?
Ive tried literally everything I can think of so any suggestions  where to look next would be welcomed.

"George Brocklehurst born  ( roughly 1795-1802 ) Stockport from his sons marriage certificate"

Start with the earliest evidence that you have of George BROCKLEHURST, a marriage certificate, which names him as father.

Can you please list all the information on the marriage record that you have.

What children does this son have.....names, dates, places.

 Hi
Thanks for quick responses.
Shallcross , Derbyshire  ( maybe a red herring )is not however Stockport,Cheshire ,  where Joseph ( son of George ) say he was born on later census records.  Throughout my search I have not found a reliable connection with Glossop , Derbyshire with these Brocklehursts.

Joseph - moves in with his  inlaws in Ashton Under Lyne  and has the following children . Ellis Brocklehurst 1848  and Charles Brocklehurst 1852.  Meanwhile  George  married to Ann  ( Williams? )  resides  1841 Census Stockport , 1851 Haughton , Lancashire.
George and Ann  have the following children .Joseph 1822, Charles 1824, Jane 1827, William 1832, Mary 1837, Frederick 1840, George 1844. I have followed George through the census moving to Heap in Rochdale with son Charles ,  Ann dies  in Rochdale , George  and his  unmarried son Charles move back to Stockport  and his widowed daughter Jane Butler moves back in the home too. George dies in Stockport but throughout this journey I've not been able to find out who his parents are.

He is consistently shown with birth year as 1802 Stockport - except for 1861 when it says Cheadle -(wife a year older) so don't think he is the one born 1793.

In 1871 George B b c 1802 is safely with wife and son Charles, at 104 ? (illegible) St Heaton Norris.
By 1881 they are still together, but Charles has risen from warehouseman to manager, and daughter Jane has joined the household at 3, Moss Terrace, Heywood.
Is this the basic family you want to get further back with?

By the way, in Ashton under Lyne, where George and Ann married, a Joseph Brocklehurst aged 56 was buried on 26th April 1820, as George and Ann Williams married on 31st December 182. That may help a little? Possible parent?

Hi TY

Yes that's the family with George as head of the household. It's George's baptism and parents I'm struggling with.  Joseph  buried in Ashton under lyne might be a link as George's first some is also named Joseph . Thanks for hint .
