Further to my earlier message, I should have added that the Bride's dress was made from parachute silk, not sure about the bridesmaids. It's a pity that I can't scan it to show you but we have several boxes that are yet to be unpacked from moving and the albums are in the loft.

I've just found a copy of my uncle's 1942 wedding. It's not very good as my sister scanned it wrongly and it came out as a bmp.  However, the dresses etc are clear enough to show that such wedding dresses were made. It's on my other computer.  I'll put it up shortly.

Also, Glen might be interested in looking at the link that I gave in Reply #9.

Looking forward to seeing your photo Gadget.

I also have a photo of a 1942 wedding, where my dad is best man again. He looks older to me in this photo than the other one.  Although the groom  was in the army at the time, he decided to get married in "civvies."  He was killed two years later at Monte Cassino.
Best wishes, Judy :-))

Here we are for comparison only. They were married in 1942.

Eager beavers note that I don't want/need a restoration   ;D

Do you like my Gran's hat  :-X

PS - Uncle Jack did serve in army in WW2 but must have decided to wear a suit.

;D You could be right, Gadget.

I can see similarities between my first photo and that of your uncle's wedding - apart from the bridesmaids :D  I love their bonnets.  It is a lovely photo.

Thanks for all your help, and to everyone who has contributed to this thread.  I am thinking now that it is very early in the 1940s.

Thanks again

Judy  ;)

Best wishes, Judy :-))
