Robert Holt, Royal Field Artillery
« on: Thursday 30 December 21 16:53 GMT (UK) »
Where might I find out anything about Robert Holt?

Robert marries Mary Jane May James in Q2 1903 in Bristol. There are two daughters born of the marriage - May Annie Celia in 1904 and Dorothy Louise in 1908.

Robert dies in October 1909. The burial records give his age as 35.

Both girls go on to marry. On Mayís marriage certificate Robertís occupation is given as Sergeant, R.F.A, and he is stated as deceased. On Dorothyís, he is not given as deceased, and his occupation Is Sergeant, Royal Field Artillery.

Iíve not managed to find Robert on a census so far.

Iíve found a couple of military records for a R Holt of 37th Battalion Royal Field Artillery on Ancestry, giving a service number of 83416. In both of these he is a Corporal, and one record says he was Invalided home. The last column of the other is headed Non effective, there are some letters and numbers against his name and the word Bristol.

Where could I look to find anything more? Would be really pleased if I have found the man in these two records.

Do you have a copy of his 1903 marriage cert? If so, what is his address and occupation?
