Looking for John Stewart, born circa 1868 Lanarkshire

I am trying, so far in vain, to find the birth (or baptism) of John Stewart, born (according to the 1871 census) around 1868, in Anderston, Lanarkshire. His parents were Walter Stewart and Sophia Strain. Help will be appreciated.

It's possible he was born in one of the surrounding areas, have you checked as this is his parents' marriage which will have a lot of useful info. as with any Scottish 1855 cert...

Yes, I did check the 1869 John Stewart, but his parents were not Walter Stewart and Sophia Strain. These are the parents I am looking for. They are in the 1871 census, with son John, but I cannot find John's birth.

What age is he on the 1871 census & have you checked the original for his age as transcriptions can be out e.g. a 5 as a 3.

Only 2 days ago I looked at a transcription on ancestry, age was 35 but on the original image he was 55.

Also, ages can be out e.g. if he hadn't had a birthday yet he may have been born the previous yr.

Where were his siblings born which may determine where he was born if not in Anderston as the boundaries could make a slight difference?
