Does anyone know the required age around 1860-1870 to immigrate into Australia if you were not accompanied by an adult?
AT what age could you travel alone or have to be to accompany a minor?
i have some discrepancies in my history. I wondering if
- she lowered her age to avoid being in the unmarried quarters
- in another case he lied about his DOB to increase their age so he could travel.

well, I can confirm that two of my ancestors migrated from England in the late 1850s, neither could read or write. They were aged 10 and 13. Perhaps the 10 year old was accompanying the 13 year old.

The Refamatory Law introduced in 1854 states aged 12 they could travel without an adult - but I think ( not sure ) this applies to Law Breakers ??... needs checking ??
