Yes I’ve learned that the hard way! 😩 I usually struggle with the handwriting and find the transcripts handy so I went with that. I can’t justify spending more money to look when it’s a curiosity more than anything that will help! I’ll no doubt change my mind next week though who knows!

I finally bit the bullet and downloaded the original. It states L.N.W.R (out of work). He had 6 children some born in Watford and some in Birmingham so that really makes sense why he moved around especially to those areas. His wife was the breadwinner (literally she had a bakers shop) for years so maybe they moved to reading in order for her to start a business. She is listed as a general dealer employing her eldest daughter and only herself and eldest daughter were bringing in an income.
