Mines Inspectors Report for 1903 (Cd 2119)
« on: Friday 07 January 22 17:51 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know where I may access the following report online?

Mines Inspectors Report for 1903 (Cd 2119)

I’ve discovered that my 2x grand uncle John William Orme died in an accident at the West Cannock Colliery in 1904. He was a jigger and apparently died in a fall, breaking his back.

There is said to be a report in the above, but I’m struggling to locate it - other than that it may be available in Durham but in person only.

Thanks
Antony

Thanks Hillhurst.

This is the link I saw that said they were available from Durham museum.

I was hoping for an online version.

According to the "List of Fatal Accidents in Mines" (Stafford District, 1903), a shale roof fell from a slip, fracturing his spine. But no doubt you already know this from another source.

The report of the inquest into his death appeared in the Cannock Chase Courier, 16 Jan 1904. The accident had occurred almost 12 months earlier.

This report is online as a Google book. Included in the Parliamentary Papers: 1850-1908, Volume 13.
It's on page 39 - Appendix I.

Quickest way to find it is to Google: "West Cannock Colliery" + Orme + 1904
Should be the 2nd entry of the search results - Parliamentary Papers: 1850-1908, Volume 13.
I dare say this report would be similar to the other report you're trying to access.

It's available via British Newspaper Archive or FindMyPast - both pay/subscription sites.
