Look up request Cranbrook
« on: Friday 07 January 22 19:18 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I am looking for details of a William Rofe/Rofey marrying in Cranbrook 12 December 1743 and 10 April 1746.  One is to Dorothy Hunt and the other to Ann Woollet.  If anyone has access to the original records, I am looking to see if they are one and the same I.e. is the 1746 William a widower?  I am also keen to know if he is of Cranbrook. I am actually searching for a William whose father died in Burwash but sadly left his son’s now wife’s name blank in his Will…  Many thanks,

William & Ann are both of the parish, no status given.

Dorothy is a widow, both of the parish

Nothing else of use  :(

Strange one this. :-\

There is a burial on 17 April 1763 for Dorothy Rofe at Cranbrook Shown as  a Widow.

There isnt any burial for a William Rofe that would have been her husband shown between 1743  and 1763.
In fact the first William Rofe shown buried Cranbrook after 1743 is in 1771

Thanks for this.  I believe the Sussex groupa are ultimately connected to the Cranbrook Rolfes but the evidence at present is proving elusive…
