Its got me baffled, I have been into settings and the printer app it is telling me  we can't find a scanner and  no modems installed and to get the scanner app.  I think I will have to get someone who knows what they are doing, at least it is printing alright and photocopying.
Thanks for your help and advise

I have updated the drivers successfully and run the trouble shooter in settings and applied the fix but when I click on new scan I still get the message that no scanner was detected and to check connections ?? Its beyond me.

I hesitate to suggest it since it is printing and photocopying but if it was me I would unistall  the drivers and start from scratch installing again.

I thought about uninstalling and starting again.  I just e mailed Canon to see if they suggest anything.  On the display window there are 3 settings, copy, scan and cloud, copy is ok, scan does nothing and cloud just has a red error 2007 message, cannot display specified page, an error has occurred loading paper? so something is wrong somewhere  Thank you

The 'error loading paper' is a common message.
I get this message when a sheet of paper has a turned over edge, thus not allowing paper to be fed into the paper feed.

Is the printer/scanner connected by WiFi? Or by USB cable?

If via WiFi, try connecting via USB.

It's a cable, I unplugged it and put it back in.

Have you tried a different cable?
