Yes.

If you spell it Gunn it won't find Gun, or vice versa. I'd probably use G*n* just in case of a really creative spelling. Always pare names down to the minimum number of consonants to pick up all the variants.

Sommerville s*m*r*v*l*
Cholmondeley Ch*m*l*
