Charlotte Kelly Timson

Hi all,

In the 1921 Census index, there is a Charlotte Kelly Timson, whom it says was born at Sheerness in 1885 and was still there in 1921. It may, of course, be the case that she married a Mr. Timson.

However, I cannot find any suitable records in earlier Census records, or BMD records, for her.

Perhaps someone with local knowledge might have some clues, please?

Look for birth registrations with middle name Kelly.

Whom is she with?
Does it state she is wed?

If all you are using is the free index, then purchase the image to verify what it says before jumping to conclusions and starting a wild goose chase.

Think this makes sense... Is this possible....

 Charlotte Hetty Pullen married Frederick W Timson BUT  in 1938. A tree on Ancestry shows an earlier marriage for him in 1904

Charlotte Hetty  Pullen was born in Sheppey reg district but in 1895 not 1885.
 Sheppey  covered Sheerness.

 I have a relative who has the middle name Pullen.

Free bmd has other births which appear before the marriage as well.

Looked back at the 1904 marriage quoted on tree...

 Frederick age given as 32 father's name William so looks like that link is wrong as looking forward to 1939 birth is given as 1883 same as on freereg.

 The marriage to Charlotte is quoted by all be marries as Frederick W ( not Walter as I have before getting a little ahead of myself)

I have found a first marriage for Charlotte Hetty.....

 The tree with most info also shows it
 1913 to Stewart William Clow.
 He appears to be a habitual criminal so she may have divorced him or just walked away.
 A couple of reports in newspapers that do not paint a good picture. There are children on freebmd from that marriage.

The Charlotte Hetty with Frederick W has another date of birth on the 1939 register. 6th Jan 1892.

I can see that Hetty and Kelly could be construed as topologically the same. I will need to get the original version of the Census to decide on this point.

My DNA test indicates a a connection with the Timsons of Sheerness. My family name is Kelly, and we come from South Wales. Only the occasional Kelly made it to London and the South East.
