Slightly off the topic, but I only found out a few weeks before Christmas that there is an LDS Family Centre just down the road from me. I just wondered if there is any sort of religious hard-sell or other expectations in the event of paying them a visit?

It's a while since I visited a Centre, but I never encountered any hard-sell at all.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

I've used them a lot, and never once had anybody try to even suggest joining or mention religion.
They've always been very helpful.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked out their pages - it seems fairly expensive, especially when ordering from Australia. Hopefully I'll be able to find some way of accessing the image from an LDS Library.

The library system here in my part of New Zealand acts as one of those 'affiliate libraries' the LDS talk of, so their locked records on films can be viewed at the local city libraries. Have you checked if your libraries do the same?

Similar to goldie,  there are affiliate libraries in Australia,  and our OP's profile says Australia.

Thanks goldie61, I hadn't thought of my local library - I'll give them a call.

From your other post i see that it was suggested that the register filmed is Presteigne. Apparently their registers are lodged at Herefordshire Archives and there is a filmed copy of the register at the National Library of Wales.

It would be worth trying one of them to see if they can scan from the film to a pdf which hopefully would be cheap.
