Are LDS Family History libraries open?
« on: Wednesday 12 January 22 00:24 GMT (UK) »
I'd love to see the image of this transcript on Family Search:
William Morgan Morris, baptised 7 Apr 1806, Herefordshire, Mother's Name Sarah Morris

The image can only be viewed at a family history library or affiliate library.

I've always suspected he was the son of William Morris and Sarah Morgan who married in 1803 in Ledbury. I'm confused about there being no father's name listed.

My previous thread:

Can anyone help?

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately the closest ones are closed until further notice. I guess that's the case for most of them. :-(

I hadn't thought of that. It would be good to see the actual image :-)

The standard way to proceed is to email Herefordshire Archives and ask them to send you a printout from the microfilm of the register. As you already have the exact date, no 'research' will be needed, and it shouldn't be costly.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked out their pages - it seems fairly expensive, especially when ordering from Australia. Hopefully I'll be able to find some way of accessing the image from an LDS Library.

Several years ago I was able to order some records that weren't on line directly from the LDS and they mailed them to me. I haven't needed to since they set up their new system but I wonder if this option might still be available? There should be contact info for your nearest centre so you could ask?

Slightly off the topic, but I only found out a few weeks before Christmas that there is an LDS Family Centre just down the road from me. I just wondered if there is any sort of religious hard-sell or other expectations in the event of paying them a visit?
