Annie Eaton Bell
« on: Saturday 15 January 22 01:07 GMT (UK) »
Looking for the spouse of Annie Eaton Bell, born abt 1862, England and their date of marriage. I have her as a widower on the 1911 census with daughters Lucia Ruth Eaton Bell age 13, Mary Norris Bell, age 12 & Sarah Norris Bell age 9. This also says daughters were born Canary Islands, Spanish colony of British parents. I find a 4th daughter in 1911, Anita Bell age 7 with relatives Arthur & Sarah Parsons.
With added digging I have more info on the daughters, none of them married. Lucia b.1898, died 18 Nov 1962 Warwickshire, Eng. Mary b. 26 March 1899, died  ??). Sarah b.13 June 1901, died 1994 Shropshire, Eng. Anita b. 15 Feb 1904, died 1982 Shrewsbury, Eng.
Since they were born on a Spanish colony, do I put Spain as their country of birth?
I do not have the death date of the mother, Annie. I have her parents as John Eaton & Sarah Norris. Would love to find out the name of her spouse, his bd, death date & date of their marriage. Thanks for any help on this.

On Family Search there is a travel record record for a Mr Bell travelling to Tenerife from Southampton leaving on 8/1/1898.

He is travelling on the 'Gascon' and the record is on Find My Past. he states he is single.

and another, this time with initials A L and a birth date for him 1870. It says he is a merchant.

I'm just banging these refs in...you will need to do some sleuthing to see if they are relevant.  I am putting them in as the name is Bell nd they are travelling to the Canaries

If you went to Find my past you could see who they travelled with.  Some times the shipping lists are on other sites and you can do a search for the ship's name eg Muraji for the latest one.

If you do a search for Bell and put Eaton in as an alternative name you can see Eatons going to the Canaries.

Tenerife was a stopping place on the way to Australia and NZ and in 1884 my 12 year old grandmother, her father and 3 younger children left for NZ.  The mother and another child stayed behind to nurse the mother in law.  They stopped off at Tenerife and, very worryingly for my grandmother, her father was one of the last coming back to the boat (he came back with the crew). When he came back though he brought them all oranges that they had never seen before.  Her siblings, children and grandchildren always got an orange in their Christmas stockings to remember this.

My track record has been terrible lately ...but... is this possible?

Lancs OPC:
Marriage: 13 Jan 1885 St Clement, Salford, Lancashire, England
Samuel Dodge - 62, Clerk, Widower, 61 Markendale Street
Annie Eaton - 24, Spinster, 57 Harry Street
Groom's Father: Samuel Dodge, (deceased), Letter Press Painter
    Bride's Father: John Eaton, Farmer
Witness: Henry Barron; Harriet Mary Merriman

I think Samuel dies in 1889.
