Court Records Charge meaning - Lancaster Gaol
« on: Thursday 20 January 22 08:54 GMT (UK) »
Hi all

I'm researching my Irish ancestors and it seems my 1st cousin 3 times removed - Margaret Flynn, born Preston, 1880, had a short spell in Lancaster Gaol in 1902.

On the prison records the offence is written as CCO - possibly CCD.

It seems the offence took place on two separate occasions. Does anyone know what CCO could stand for?

Thanks

Lee

Can you attach a snip so that we can take a look at the image?

Still new to this site so not sure if this will work but I've tried to attach a screenshot.

On image 267 of that book there is another person with that offence.
And where yours has CCD added in red in column 2 they have Debtor written in red.

There is a C. C. debtor

Crown Court?
County Court?

Perhaps she hadn’t paid a fine for a previous crime?

There is another At image 293.

Thank you, that would fit being a debtor, the Flynn family as a whole weren't the most upstanding members of the community so there is a chance they wouldn't pay their debts despite working.

Thanks

Easy to get into debt, much harder to get out of debt.
