Mark Geggie m. Margaret Riddell

Hello Rootschatters! Mark Geggie married Margaret Riddell on 25 August 1811 in Wooler, NBL. I am hoping that there will be additional information in the records regarding Margaret Riddell. Fathers names were not shown on marriage entries until 1.7.1837 when Civil Registration was introduced.  Mothers names are never included on English/Welsh marriage certs

Since they married in Wooler, and 1841 census states bc.1785, I would suggest she was the Margaret Riddle bp.11/4/1784 Wooler, dau. of William (no mothers name shown).   However, the only Riddell/Riddle couple baptising children in Wooler at this time are a William and Ann so I would say these are her parents - siblings Jane 25/2/1776, James 30/9/1787, George 17/6/1790, Robert 29/7/1793, William 24/12/1795.

Can't find a likely marriage for William and Ann though.

Possibly the William bapt 1795 to William/Ann.

The marriage has Mark Geggie from Ilderton and Margaret Riddell as of this parish.  Witnesses were James Mitchell and Helen Johnston

Too bad they didn't have a child baptised by Dec 1812 as the mother's father is named on those baptisms.

There is a burial of William Riddle age 10 on  19 Jul 1805 son of William Riddle, soldier, deceased

Those possible siblings of Margaret may have been baptised at Wooler West Presbyterian
