Go back to your opening post.  You say that SAMUEL Cowan Boyd died 1939 yet your tree says he was b 1933 & died in infancy in 1935??

Do you mean DAVID Cowan Boyd b 1920.  You say you have his death cert so how old was he?  That cert has details of his cause of death so what more can we add?

I think most of the questions raised in your opening post have now been answered from info in your possession.  Is that correct?

You know that your great grandmother was nee Brown & you know your great grandfather was Samuel - married 1885

You know that John H Boyd was the father of David Cowan Boyd

You have the 1939 death cert for David Cowan Boyd which will show his cause of death.  His name is not on cwgc.org so it was presumably not war related.

Your grandfather was Samuel George Boyd b 1896 but only married 1943 to Nellie Carmichael in Birmingham.  One child b 1943 Birmingham.  Samuel died 1960 in Lanarkshire

Putting unverified info on a public tree can cause a lot of confusion.  Your tree shows David's parents as John H & Isabella.  Until you verify that from his birth cert or another reliable source it should be left blank

I donít think so my grandad talked about his brother who was shot often and his sister Mary so they were very easy to find. It seems John was still in Ireland when the mum died in 1941 as he is mentioned in a newspaper article on her death and living at 118 Urney street and grandchildren are mentioned and a daughter in law so just need to find and verify this area. The clue was the James west who died at this address in 1930 and this also being David Cowans address so need to find his birth
