Looking for Ada Turquand
« on: Saturday 05 February 22 14:29 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to track Ada Turquand (nee Brunton, born 19/7/1852, married William Turquand 1872 (he died 1894)).
She is recorded in the 1901 census living at 13 Connaught Square, Paddington, London and in the 1902 electoral register at the same address but after that the trail goes cold - no census, re-marriage, death, probate, electoral register entries.
Turquand is a commonly mis-transcribed name and I have tried various wildcard searches but with no success.

This Ada does not (to the best of my knowledge) have a middle name and is not to be confused with Ada Charlotte Turquand (1855-1941) or Ada Emily Turquand (1860-1922) who also lived in London.

Thanks for any help, or suggestions for investigation, you can provide.

There's a plain Ada T on electoral register for 1921 Liverpool Street London and underneath is a Paul William T but she could be one of the other two ladies you have ruled out  :-\

Have you had a look for her on the 1921 census?

The one with Paul is his wife Ada Emily whom he married in 1881.

She did not have children.
I have searched in both 1911 and 1921 census to no avail.
She was present in the 1902 electoral register, but not in 1903 (at least not in Connaught Square).

There's this in the Pall Mall Gazette, 13 June 1901 (free text)
Mrs. Turquand leaves England on the 20th inst., and her marriage with Major Biancardi, A.D.C., will take place at Malta in July.

Is this the same person?
Death, June 1928 Guildford 2a 202
Biancardi, Ada
age 75

Probate calendar says Ada Grech Biancardi of Verdala Guildford widow died 27 March 1928.
Left a will.

Great find, Jon  ;)

Some details on Captain Biancardi...before he became Major! https://timesofmalta.com/articles/view/an-invasion-of-malta-military-manoeuvres-on-an-island-garrison.689326

Photo of him in the article (somewhere in the uniforms, but listed).
