Looking for death of Thomas Reilly, bapt. 1 Sep 1824 RC Parish Killeshin
« on: Saturday 05 February 22 17:54 GMT (UK) »
I have been trying in vain to find the death of my ancestor Thomas REILLY. He was baptized RC on 01 Jan 1822 in St Alban's RC Church in Doonane Parish, Co. Laois. He married Margaret Brennan on 30 Sep 1846. She was baptized on 01 Sep 1824 in Graiguecullen/Killeshin Parish, and died 24 Feb 1889, townland Drumagh, SRD Carlow, RD Ballickmoyler, Co. Queens. Thomas Reilly, the widower, is the informant on her death certificate.

I have been unable to find the death of Thomas Reilly. Any help will be highly appreciated.

Have you looked on
https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/
Family Search
 and for spellings such as
Rielly?

Would be a great help t let us know, broadly, where you have already looked.

Yes, I looked on ancestry, FindMyPast and rootsIreland, under Reilly, O'Reilly and Rielly, but without success.

Did you try Riley?
Was he definitely not on 1901 census?
Do you know where their children lived?

Yes a good suggestion.

OP please try the other places that have been suggested Family Search and Irish Genealogy. They all have something different to offer.

Would he have been staying  with a child? Hence MS suggestion or the workhouse hospital at his nearest town.

I followed your suggestions and looked in all these sources and with all spelling variations I could think of: no luck!

Thomas had four children:
Patrick, born 24 Sep 1848, died 24 Sep 1896 Carlow
James, born 26 Dec 1849, died 18 Oct 1915 Carlow
Elizabeth, born 16 Jan 1853, died 07 Aug 1908 Wexford (as Dempsey)
William, born 29 jan 1855, died 15 Feb 1929 Carlow.

Thanks for any further suggestions. (I am a Dutchman, not very familiar with the intricacies of Irish genealogy.)
