William Charles STRIDE, is on the 1901 with his parents and siblings.   His place of birth is Street, Somersetshire.

Yes Leonard is with them in 1921 he was born in Brighton. Along with Ronald born in Cardiff from 1911 all children are stepchildren.

Wiiliam Stride died 1958 in Harrow.  Emily died 1959 in Harrow. both their ages tie up with their ages in 1911 and 1921.

They married in Cardiff in 1904. Lena born 1906.

I just don't understand where they got Jesse from on the baptism. Unless Emily had an affair with a Jesse and he is Lena's father and has died before 1917.

In 1911 the first four are there but the parents are called Stride as well

It is all very strange.

I think William was father to all children. Sometime after 1911 he seem to want to distance himself from the Stride name. 

The children were all claimed as his in 1911. 2 born to couple, 2 still alive.

 The parents are also William & Emily Beard in 1939, Leonard is down as Stride. But William Charles goes back to his full birth name on death.

There is a bapt for Ronald, with William C and Emily as parents. Not looked for Leonard.

There is also a GWR work record for William Charles Stride in 1901/2, same birthdate as 1939. possibly same occ as on  Lena baptism.

Added: Sept 1901 working as porter in Severn tunnel, 1902 as lamp man, which is a signalman when looked up.

Possibly stating his name was Beard and the children were stepchildren, nobody could identify him as William Charles Stride.  He also drops middle name Charles in 1921 and 1939.

All a bit of a mystery?

Thanks Cas for your input. I agree with you it is the same William and Emily all the way through.
They get married in Cardiff. Have Lena in Gloucestershire, then go back to Cardiff and have Ronald, Then onto London where they stayed. 

I have at least got the baptism image that I wanted.

Looking at that 1939 register. For some reason in 1958 the year William died they wrote above Emily Beard Emily J Stride.

The register was a working document - though it was created in 1939 it was amended and annotated as people moved, married, and died.
