Good luck - I don't even know what Bing is  :o
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

I can't follow how to disable/disconnect the Bing wallpaper thing.

Actually its called the "Windows Spotlight" feature. Following Trystan's instructions (post #3) should disable "Windows Spotlight" for you. Once you turn WS off, sign out of Windows, then sign back in for the change to take effect. Or simply restart your computer/laptop.

My Windows Spotlight photo has been stuck on the same boring image for two weeks now.  ::)
So I changed the Background drop-down menu to "Picture" -- and selected the photo of the view of the blue sky and mini islands (?), as seen from the airplane wing.

Hi Girl Guide. Know exactly what you mean. Annoys the Hell out of me. Is it Microsoft's computer or is it mine. Couldn't find a solution, so as I ease myself down in my seat, I press the ;Enter; key 12 times and I usually end up on Log in screen.

I actually like the facility and find that liking photos brings up similar views. It makes logging onto my laptop just that little more enjoyable! That said, you need to disable Bing from starting up each time you switch on. Try this approach that I've copied form an IT forum:

To disable Bing from launching upon Windows startup, hit Ctrl+Alt+Del on your keyboard and select "task manager" from the list that appears.

In the window that pops up, click "more details" in the bottom left corner of the window to expand the view and then click on the "startup" tab at the top. This lists the programs set to launch upon Windows startup on your machine.

Locate the "Bing" program in that list — highlight it and click on "disable." This will remove it from your startup list and it won't launch upon Windows boot anymore.

Next, right-click over the start button and select "settings." In the window that appears, click on "personalization," and then on "lock screen" in the left column. Under the "background" field, select the "picture" option instead of "slideshow" from the drop-down list.

Then choose your preferred picture by clicking browse. This will replace the Bing background slideshow on your desktop with a static picture of your choosing from your files

I haven't tested as I like the facility, but it seems to make sense.

Hi Tasman & Mark

Tasman - I gave up trying to fiddle with the pictures. When my computer starts up I just hit the Enter key and get straight to my log on page.

Most of the pictures that came up I wasn't interested in and it could take ages telling them that.

I appreciate that there are those who like to see all these pictures like you do Mark.

I don't see why it's a problem.  The images are not ugly, after all.

I just ignore the "like what you see?", click somewhere on the screen, and log in.
I don't think I even need that click if I wait a few seconds.

Lucky You !!!

I usually suffer from heightened blood pressure before the darned screen acknowledges that I'm clicking my mouse.

Bring back the days when the screen saver was a few coloured pipes.  :D
