Reel&Buts Musical Hall Act 1901
« on: Tuesday 15 February 22 14:14 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,

I am currently looking for information on a Musical Hall act called Reels&Buts. Mostly performing in the North of UK.

Buts = His name was James Butler, born 1868, Deptford. Birth Certificate says his father was John Butler, a brick labourer. His mother was Elizabeth Carroll. We know about his wife and his children but his parents are a bit of a mystery. From the 1901 census his profession was a Musical Hall Comedy Act. We would love to be able to know more about where he performed, and who he performed along side.

Hoping there is someone out there that may be able to help us find out who REELS could be. Is it a surname that has been abbreviated like Buts?
On James Wedding certificate The marriage witness was an Alfred Russell. A Rootschat member previously found a comedian named Alfred H Russell appear in the 1891 census in Leith, and in 1901 in Liverpool (AH Russell). Born London act 1865.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards
Josie
