Trying to find when they left the UK. there are a few possibilites - here are some:

There is this Mr HOGARTH, engineer, travelling in 1924 to South Africa, though the age is a bit out.

There is also this Mr J K HOGARTH to South Africa in 1903, though the occupation is "traveller"
