In that case, did Louisa tell the truth with regard to the numbers of children born and living?

Yes that's what I meant.
Cyril, as we know was recorded as ‘son’ - or at least that’s what it looks like.

What is the flat out lie on his birth certificate?  Which one was his mother?

Hi Milliepede

Cyril's mother was Alfred and Louisa's eldest daughter who went on to marry her first husband, who was not the father of Cyril, in 1905 and then a 2nd husband in 1915.

The birth certificate has his name as Cyril John Mansfield. The father's name is registered as Cyril John Mansfield Goodey a Carpenter Journeyman (no such person  :D). There is another whopping fib too lol.

It looks as though Alfred & Louisa raised Cyril as their own with their daughter moving on with her life.

regards

Sarah

Now you surprised me I was thinking it was Agnes's child as she was living in Hackney at the time.

On another point
Lizzie the eldest was registered as Louisa Elizabeth, could Emma have gone by another nickname which is why we cannot find her?

Was she with grandparents in 1891?

Is the family related to Elizabeth Hill w/o Benjamin and their son Albert W?
Elizabeth stays with them a long time to be just a boarder.

Yes I was thinking Agnes as well, there we go.

The name Mansfield in the mix could be significant, sometimes unusual middles names are a clue to the father.

Agnes was married by 1901 and has two children in 1911.

Hi

I have extensively researched this family line and Emma Florence is the brick wall  :D

I have traced all of Alfred Goodey and Louisa's branches.

1891 Louisa Elizabeth was in Reading as a general domestic servant.
1901 she was with her sister Ethel May in Ashford Kent.
1904 she had Cyril John Mansfield.
1905 she married her first husband in Hackney.
1906 Louisa Elizabeth's 2nd child with her first husband is born in Berkshire and dies in Yorkshire.
1911 I have been unable to find her, as her first husband was a Private Scots Guard.
1912 Louisa Elizabeth's first husband dies.
1915 Louisa Elizabeth married her 2nd husband.
They do not have any children.
1952 Louisa Elizabeth died in Hertfordshire.
1963 2nd husband of Louisa died in Hertfordshire.

I have the same timelines for all her siblings except Emma Florence  ???

I have researched the father's name - no such person and I have researched Cyril John Mansfield the GRO and FreeBMD has no Cyril John Mansfield registered.
Yesterday I scoured the 1901 census in the Hackney area for any Mansfield's (CSI  ;D) looking for any Mansfields - no luck.

regards

Sarah
