Julia lake/brackenbury
« on: Thursday 17 February 22 18:58 GMT (UK) »
Hi Everybody,

A couple of months ago I posted on here looking for help to find my ancestor Eliza Lake. Due to the amazing response I received at that time I wondered if someone could help me find my ancestor Julia lake.

I’m unsure how she relates to Eliza (possibly a cousin) but I do know that she was born in 1863 and married a Alfred brackenbury in 1881. On the marriage certificate it lists a David lake as the father however I have been unable to find further information.

Any help on this matter would be really appreciated. Thank you  :)

No info given as to where she was born.

If she was born 1863 have you checked freebmd for a birth reg for her?

Have you looked for her on the 1871 census

I can’t find her on the 1871 census but I have her on the 1881 census as 1863 born in Marylebone.

I’ve search the freebmd but nothing listed as marylebone.

use freebmd and expand it to county, deleting district

It's not like you are searching for a "john Smith"

Hi, Did your Julia die in 1941. She would appear to have been born in Wandsworth. If so her birth date  was 8th Dec 1863.

John

Edit : Should have put Marylebone.

One of 2 possibilities

She was illegitimate & not b Lake

She is the Julia Lake b Wandsworth - parents Henry & Caroline but as she was only 17 when she married Alfred she may have given false details

There is no match for her on the 1871 or 1881 although father "David" is deceased when she married - occ gas fitter

Hmmmm. I did think they could be possibilities.

When I was searching for Eliza lake they used her step fathers first name instead of her biological fathers. So maybe this could be a possibility too? 🤔

There is an 1871 entry for a Julia Dunn - Ancestry have her as Dum - aged 7.  Parents David & Ann.  David is a gas fitters labourer & they are living in Marylebone
