Who are Ellis Hare's parents?

Hello! I was wondering if someone might be able to help me untangle something!

I have an Ellis Hare (1740-1826), who was married to Elizabeth Sanders (1744-1810) - but I have some confusion over his parents!

From what I can find, I have his mother and father as Edward Hare (1661 - 1760) and Mary Ellis (1670 - 1726).

Now I know things have changed since the 1600's but I'm almost certain even then you couldn't give birth 14 years after you had died...

There are a couple of possibilities I can see:
- Edward remarried after Mary died but he would still have been about 80..
- My Ellis is actually the son of one of the men I've marked as his brother, Elis (B.1707)

I can't find any further information.

1740 Ellis was born in Cardington. I wondered of that Ellis was a younger brother who died and he was named for?

Ah yes thats my Ellis (d.1826) and his own son (d.1775 aged 3).

But no clues as to who my Ellis's parents were still. I'm not sure where else to look now.

Ellis Hare was of Old Warden when he married Elizabeth Sanders at Cardington on 8 April 1765
Banns at Old Warden dated 31 March 1765 as Ellis Hair.

Edward Hare, carpenter married Mary Ellis at Clophill on 2 Sept 1691
Ellis Hare baptised Clophill 5 July 1707 son of Edward

Thank you! But I guess no reference to a second marriage for Edward? Because Mary Can’t be his mother!

Ugh! I keep hitting these mysteries in my family history!

 24 May 1726 Mary wife of Edward Hare, senior 'carpender'
 12 Dec 1729 Edward Hare 'carpender'

Edward Hare carpenter married Mary Ellis at Clophill on 6 June 1691
They baptised 7 children at Clophill starting with Edward 22 Feb 1692 up to Ellis 5 July 1707.
The other 5 were all daughters.

Probably son Edward Hare married widow Jane FitzRichard at Clophill on 20 Sept 1723
They baptised 3 children at Clophill 1726 - 1732 including Edward

Edward Hare carpenter buried Clophill 11 Nov 1760
Jane Hare, widow buried Clophill 21 Jun 1767

No info found as to what happened to Ellis b 1707, nor found a baptism of an Ellis c1740 if that's the one buried at Old Warden on 20 Jan 1826 aged 85
