Tracing McLeod family (before 1900s)
« on: Sunday 20 February 22 16:17 GMT (UK) »
Hi all, first time posting here and hope you can help me. I have recently started looking into my mothers family history (McLeod). Her father was Kenneth Mcleod (1940-1978) who resided in Luton. His siblings were Billie McLeod and Bryan McLeod. Their parents were William McLeod (1915-1983) and Maud Eleanor McLeod (1916-1991). I know that William had a brother named Daniel McLeod (1904-1965) who married a woman named Lily Milemore (1897-1966). I think they grew up around Port Glasgow and moved down to Luton where they died but I am not sure. I cannot find any further relatives and it would be nice to find out more about our family history as my mother does not know much about them.

Welcome to Rootschat

You need to be aware that Rootschat has a strict no living oersons policy so we can only post info about people who are deceased

Daniel & Lily married in Luton in 1937 - see www.freebmd.org.uk

Lily’s birth is on freebmd - she was b Bedfordshire.  Here she is with family in 1901

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XS3F-4NS

You can use that website to find any children born to the marriage.  There is just one that I can see

His entry is viewable on the 1939 register which usually indicates he is deceased

Hi thanks for replying, I had found about about Robert and know of his children and grandchildren. Is there any way to go and find Daniel and Williams parents if I do not know their names?

The brothers to William you mention were only born in 1935 & 1947 - are they still alive?  If you are uncertain you need to remove both brothers names from your post.

Was Maud Eleanors maiden name Nichol?

This looks like the birth for Daniel which can be downloaded from www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk by payment of credits, it will give both parents names, mothers' maiden name & where & when they were married also the address of the birth.
