Hi
I took a look at the Swedish side of all this and although no luck on Oscar for the time being. I have found some info on Francis Scott. I have Francis' naturalization record and marriage record if anyone is interested.

So Maud returned to Shropshire with the baby.  There is a marriage in 1918 in Shropshire for a Maud M A Scott to John Smith

There is an incoming passenger record for Maud M A Smith and Mr John Smith in 1933 from Yokohama.  It is difficult to read but their residence is Staffordshire.

Looking at Staffs, there is an interesting entry in 1939 register for Maud M Smith, Staffordshire. We aren’t allowed to give information from the register.

It might be worth following up the Smith/Scott marriage.

Looking at the children of Maud and John Smith i see they had a John 'Oscar' Noel Smith, the fact that the name Oscar is part of Johns middle name surley cant be a coincidence if it is the correct Maud that her first son Helmars father had the same name, maybe Maud did this as part of her memory for Helmar that she gave away and never saw again x Interesting thought

The naturalisation record is at National Archives and is free.
The marriage record is on Ancestry.

Are you interested in finding Francis Scott in Sweden?

Yes im definately interested thankyou, i think this is definatley the correct Maud Scott, there are to may coincidences for it not to be. There is the Sweden connection within her Scott family, Maud Smith is a masseuse in 1939, and the fact she gave her son the middle name of Oscar , it cant be just a coincidense surely x

Ok, no problem.
I have now a date of birth and birthplace but he wasn't there in that birth book unfortunately. He was a mariner according to his marriage certificate.
I'll keep looking.

Oscar on the other hand has given no hits here in Sweden. He will be a hard nut to crack unfortunately.

Probably nothing to do with the Oscar in question, but in 1901 there is an Oskar Bergman born 1880 in Sweden- a boarder in the Scandinavian Sailors' Home in Garford Street,Poplar, London- he is a steward.
