What is this baby's name?
« on: Monday 21 February 22 21:55 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to track down the fourth child of Benjamin and Mary Ann Whiles. He appears to have been born in St Lukes Workhouse, Holborn in November 1866 and named I think Joseph John.
On 11th March 1867 the family were transfered to Hoxne (back to their home area), when the infant is named Benjamin.
The only likely Birth record I can find for fourth quarter 1866 is for a Joseph B Whiles and I have a potential death record in June 1867 for an infant called John Benjamin Whiles in Hoxne. He is not with the rest of the family on the 1871 census, under any of these names.

I have no idea if any of these record are the same child. To add to confusion the couple later call another child Joseph George John.

Before I resort to buying certificates, any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you, yes that is the correct Mother.

Which suggests both workhouse records could be inaccurate?

London Workhouse Admission and Discharge records, 1764-1930, St Lukes Holborn

In 1871 the family are in Bungay workhouse, with the two older children, which from family knowledge we know to be correct.
