Apologies Annie. I read it as 21 months.

I'm trying to get my head 'round all this, the children from this marriage were:
   Harley 12/03/1874, Joseph 29/04/1875 , William Q3 1876, Herbert Q1 1880, Elsie Maria Q3 1881, Esther Q3 1883 and finally George b 18/11/1885.
If John was buried in June 1880 at 10 months that means he was born in August 1879 ( i think!) so there we are? Yet again you've all helped me . That's why she's buried with the infant John altho' who the family Gamble are I have no idea.

Thank you so much LizzieL and Maidenstone. Perhaps it's time to turn the page on this one ? Can't believe how amazing this site is. :)

Thank you so much LizzieL and Maidenstone.

LizzieL suggested in reply #14 that there may be no connection and that baby John was buried in the same grave as the Gamble family because it had space. The previous burial was more than 20 years earlier. Depends on whether it was a private grave or a public grave, and if it was a private grave, what length of time the owners had burial rights to it.
Leicestershire Ancestors website has information on Welford Rd. Cemetery.

I don't deserve thanks. My only contribution was to misread someone else's post.  ;)

John's age at death at 10 months was from burial record. GRO site for death registration of John Ward buried Q2 1880 says he was 1 year. If he was 10 months old, it should say 0. So he must have had his 1st birthday, but not yet had his 2nd. That would fit with birth in Q3 1878.
