A unusual swaddling doll
« on: Monday 28 February 22 17:42 GMT (UK) »
I hope some Rootschatters can help. We wonder on the history of this doll. It is a very different facial presentation from most. We also wonder if the swaddling gives any sign of age etc. hello appreciated. Thanks

I wonder if a child has put lipstick or even nail varnish on the  doll.
The only thing I can think of is it is part of a Nativity set, baby Jesus in swaddling clothes .
What size is  it ?
There would be the crib, with baby Jesus, Ox,Ass ,Sheep and Shepherds ,Mary ,Joseph and The Three kings

Viktoria.

Thank you Victoria for your explanation. It is interesting and obviously a possibility. This doll was found in a locked room at a friends house. It was not in the room the previous day. All very odd. I have some contacts looking at the age of the material used for the swaddling. If I gain any more information I will update this post.
Thank you.

Oooer!
That is strange ,it does seem in good condition ,the material  crisp and the doll clean.
As you say ,not a usual facial expression.
Can’t think where you could search. I have heard of children’s shoes up chimneys, an old superstition.
Cats too I have  a vague memory of.
Viktoria.
Just thought ,babies in Eastern Europe are still swaddled .V.

Hi, Victoria, babies are still swaddled in the UK. However, not that often nowadays. The friends who found this doll are not nervous or spooked they are just intrigued and trying to find a logical explanation as to why it has suddenly turned up in the room. Thanks Kathb.
