Hello, William Milnes mothers name was Elizabeth Bisset. Their children are William Milne born abt 1880, Mary Jane Milne abt 1882 and George Milne born abt 1884

I've rechecked the Census for Mary Ann Milne (Stuart) in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, Scotland and in 1891 she is Mary Milne, head, married age 27. In 1901 this changes to Mary Ann Milne , head, widow,

Thanks for that tip. I think this narrows down his death to between 1891 and 1901.

Also on her death record she is recorder as a widow...
Mary Anne Milne (Widow of William Milne, Stonecutter) died on April 22nd 1940

I checked that death in Old Deer but its not the same William Milne unfortunately. It was promising because the age looked right :-(

I think I need to follow up on the possible USA connection. Will go and look for some passenger lists.

Thanks for the Information from the Aberdeen Journal, in addition to the possible USA tip, that sounds like it could be him. (I need to get myself a subscription to a news archives)
