WWI postcard finally delivered

Lovely story of a WWI postcard sent from Turkey to New Zealand in 1915, found in Townsville, Qld and now sent to the son of the intended recipient in NZ.

Question in my mind remains - what was it doing in Townsville?

The Post Office's usual explanation for stories like this, unless it was found down the back of a machine in the sorting office, is that it was being sent to a collector and fell out of the envelope. In this case it might have  fallen out of a collector's pocket. Is there an antique shop or similar in the shopping centre?

I don't know the shopping centre, however that is a good theory.  :)

I memory serves, was there not a spate of this somewhere in Northern England about 10+ years ago? I believe they put it down to "Students" "having a laugh" and putting old postcards back into the system.

If they were holiday post cards OK, but if from WW1 then I don’t find that amusing at all.
Even if just a P.C saying a soldier was alright, they are so special ,as any war PCs are but that conflict was particularly tragic.
