Great-grandparents
« on: Monday 21 March 22 05:41 GMT (UK) »
Hi there! My great-grandparents, before coming to Scotland, may have lived in County Tyrone. On both their Scottish Death Certificates it is noted that they were married in Donaghmore, County Tyrone on the 17th August 1851. Try as I have, I can find no details elsewhere to back this up.   My great-grandfather, James Burns (Byrne/Byrnes/Bryans) was baptised in Armagh, 26 February 1826. My great-grandmother, Elizabeth Morrison I have no details of what so ever. I can only presume that the records no longer exist. Can anyone shed further light on this?

Civil registration of Catholic marriages started in 1864 (non-Catholic ones including Registry Office from 1845)- all these records survive.

Since you mentioned Donaghmore I had a look at the R.C. Parish Register using the date given and didn't see the marriage but you can have a further look at a wider period in case the year is incorrect-
