French baptism 1671
« on: Wednesday 23 March 22 21:28 GMT (UK) »
From the Taisnieres sur Hon register.

28th March 1671
I'm hoping 'Antoine' D'anhier, though this seems to be some Latin form of the name.
Son of Charles (Caroli) D'anhier and Quintine Massoy(?)
The godfather's name seems to have an 'h' in it - Anthoine, and what's his surname? Abra....?
The godmother is Marie Anne ?

Thanks for any help

I read for the Antoine - 'Antoinus'
And the surname d'anXier - ETA I not sure I can see the 'h' so have put an X in.  I don't think the
d' at the beginning of the surname is capitalised.

ETA 2 the letter after Abra could be 's' as it looks   like the 's' in Massoy, then again it looks a wee bit like the letter read as 'h' in d'anhier.

Marie Anne Potol or Sotol.....just guesses really

baptizatus 28 Martii 1671
Antonius d'anhier filius caroli
et quintine massoy suscep[erun]t
Anthoine Abra[h]art et marie
anne [Sotet/Sotel]

Susceperunt is Latin for "they held" i.e. the child at the font.

Many thanks.

Is 'Antonius' the Latinised version of 'Antoine'?
