Hi Lynda,

If that is his correct profile you will be able to see all his posts and contacts, if you reply to either of the two threads the other members will be notified of a reply. If you could let me know if it is correct then I can turn off the emails for your brother so no family will be bothered by our emails.

Regards

Sarah

Hello. Sorry for you loss.

I read your post and looked at your brothers.

From Scotlandspeople 'George Gold Spink' was born in 1888 Arbroath, Angus. (A town a short distance from Forfar and up the coast from Dundee)

He married Jane Ann Rennie in 1912 in Forfar.

In the 1891 census a 2 year old George Spink is living with;

David Spink, 30
Ann Spink, 30
William, 9
David, 4
James, 8.
Interestingly James is out of order here. That can sometimes indicate he is a cousin/brother/nephew etc of the head of the house - David. It could also just be an error.

Presumably David and Ann are the parents but it is also possible they are brother and sister. I can't find a marriage registration for them nor do they appear in the 1881 census.

You mentioned a David Spink married to a Catherine. There is a 1892 marriage between a David Spink and Catherine W Fraser in Arbroath.

In the 1901 census a 12 year old George Spink is living with;

David Spink, 41
Catherine Spink, 41
William, 17
David, 14

James cannot be located. He could be living/working on his own.

I hope this helps you. If you have more information or any of the above rings a bell please let me know.

George Gold Spink was born 26/10/1888 Arbroath and was the son of David Spink and his first wife Margaret Stewart who married 17/10/1881 Carmyllie.    Margaret died 22/12/1896 Arbroath (her parents Thomas Stewart and Mary Alexander) and David remarried to Catherine Wright Fraser 31/12/1897 Arbroath.

David Spink was born 28/7/1858 Arbroath, son of James Spink and Catherine Coull.   James and Catherine married 14/6/1856 Montrose.

James Spink bc.1836, son of David Spink and Jessie/Janet Lawson married 5/4/1824 St. Vigeans, Arbroath.

So, George Gold Spink son of David Spink and Margaret Stewart
      David Spink son of James Spink and Catherine Coull
      James Spink son of David Spink and Jessie/Janet Lawson.
