A warm welcome to Rootschat Catherine Q.

Just wondering if anyone accompanied Catherine out to Western Australia.

When you say you are looking for the family of Catherine do you mean family going back in Ireland or family coming forward in Australia ie from 1853 and later?

ETA
Was Quinn her maiden name or was this her married name?
Who did she marry and when?
What were the names of her children? (this is useful when looking at the naming patterns of ancestors.
Where did you get the exact date of birth from?

Hello Garstonite
Thank you so much for your help.
Catherine Quinn is my 2nd great grandmother and I have been unsuccessful in finding any information of her life / family back in Ireland.
According to records, Catherine Quinn arrived on the bride ship "Clara" and married James Butterly. Catherine was a maidservant on the same farm that James Butterly worked on as an indentured farm hand. There are no parents listed on the marriage certificate for Catherine.
My Great Grandmother was Lucy Butterly, her youngest child.
Interestingly, the Museum in Western Australia has Catherine's birthplace as Meath, Baalbriggen County, Ireland and the Death notice has been updated to County Kerry, Ireland. I am curious to see this new birthplace listed (see below). It is the same that you have kindly provided.

Many thanks for your kindness in helping me honour Catherine's Irish heritage and her contribution to Newcastle/Toodyay, Western Australia.

The Bride Ships by author Rica Erickson (1992) describes "During 1853 four large contingents of Irish girls and women came to Western Australia, selected mainly from orphanages and poorhouses of Cork and Dublin. They were shipped to England to board the immigrant ships, ...the Clara arrived in Fremantle in September. ..."

I think so.  Perhaps she was working at Balbriggan when she got her passage to Western Australia.  Balbriggan is close to Dublin so she may have gone to England from there to join a ship. Perhaps the old answer to the query where are you from? Where were you born?

ETA I guess finding her in Kerry would nail it.
