Medal Roll Index card
Walter Daubney
Military Date:   1914-1920
Military Place:   England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, United Kingdom
Regiment or Corps:   Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, regiment number 3632
the King's (Liverpool) Regiment regimental number 204851
Theatre of war first in - France
Date of entry - 12 February 1915
He received the British. Victory and Silver medals and the above mentioned Silver War badge

Just noted it says ‘William Daubney’ on the 2nd entry yet the service no matches Walter in the first entry?

Regards Jayhen

Yes it does say William Daubney ( I just checked to make sure I hadn't given the wrong first name.) In WW1 if soldiers were moved between regiments they could be given a new number for each regiment. I think it was from 1920 onwards that original service numbers were retained for the length of service and any changes of regiment.
So the first name William could mean this is another man with the same service number so maybe best not to use the information.

There are images on ancestry and Findmypast for these records and your local library may have the free library version of one or both.
