Magistrates Handwrting 1832
« on: Tuesday 29 March 22 09:42 BST (UK) »
I wonder if anyone can help with the name written on this 1832 copy of a magistrate's notes. 'Rowland' is very clear, but Mr. ??? - I can't make it out at all.

I think it's Jemmelt or a variant of that, there's plenty of search results with that name on FamilySearch
Bolingbroke (Norfolk & Suffolk) Chittleburgh (Yorkshire & Norfolk) Dawson (Essex & Hertfordshire) Donkin (Newcastle & Durham) Gregg (Lancashire & Cumbria) Johnson (Lancashire) Spalding (Norfolk) Stannard - (Essex & Norfolk)

If you look at the r in for it similar to next letter after the e = could be any of the following Jernmelt or Ternmelt or Sernmelt

melt could be welt
In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Thank you bethanyyd96 and dobfarm. After your guidance, I'm sure it's Jemmett. He was a barrister for the defence; also on the defence team was a Mr Bacon. I found this newspaper article for a different court case for the same year which had the two names.
