Bastardy documents
« on: Tuesday 29 March 22 14:33 BST (UK) »
I have a relative, John Daniel, that was born in 1817.  He was baptized on 17 May 1817 in Caythorpe, Lincolnshire, England.  Only his mother's name is on the baptismal record as Ann Daniel so I suspect that this could have been a illegitimate birth.  How can I look this up from the USA?  I'd really like to find the record in hopes that it would lead to a fathers name.  If that doesn't work, I hope it would give me a clue as to Ann's parents.  Thanks for the help.

It's very doubtful a baptism record showing just the mother would give any indication as to the father and wouldn't give any clues to her parents either.

Do you know if he stayed with his mother or what happened to her?

The baptism image which is on FindMyPast has Ann's surname as Daniels.  Did she marry John Bradley in 1821 as Ann Deanils, witnesses Richard Deanils & Martha Deanils

ADDED
Online newspapers briefly mention Bastardy cases for Lincolnshire for that period but give no further details. FindMyPast have bastardy information but no mention of  Ann

I'm not surprised about the Daniel/Daniels thing.  It has changed depending on where is came from.  As far as a marriage to John Bradley, I've no idea who she may have married.  Did the site you looked at give a birthdate for John Bradley?  Just looking briefly on Family Search I can't find a John Bradley married to an Ann Daniels.  Can you send a more inclusive copy that contains the parish and location? Thanks for the help
