William Jock Whitworth is the son of Augustus William Whitworth the grandson of the William I am trying to work out how he fits in. The problem with the Whitworth family is that cousins married each other and had many children

Hi,

Think you should look at the Whitworth Wills proved  Canterbury which are on Ancestry.

Thomas Whitworth, probate 1790, leaves property to son William, and states that if any monies are unpaid re purchase of the Manor of Earls Barton they are responsibility of William my son.  Also mentioned are my late brother William, Daughters Elizabeth Whitworth and Mary Whitworth.

William Whitworth probate 1821,  mentions Elizabeth his wife, Sisters Elizabeth & Mary and William Whitworth, my relation of the Town of Bedford, Attorney.  Does appear the relationship is not Nephew so probably distant cousin.

Does not answer your question, but obviously William of 1821 had no son, and Manor went to William
born 1799 Bedford.

There are lots of Whitworth wills, which may also help.

Hi,

William Whitworth bpt 4th October 1798 Bedford son of William Whitworth and Sophia.

William Whitworth = Sophia Franklyn. Married 1st August 1797 Potton, Bedford, they appear to have been married by licence.

Have not seen originals, these are transcripts per FindMyPast, who have obtained from familysearch.org., but again their images are not available on line.

Again there are Bedfordshire  Whitworth wills, proved Canterbury, on Ancestry. Which may help to tie to Earls Barton.
