Doozy of an 18th century court transcript
« on: Friday 01 April 22 01:18 BST (UK) »
I can see that there was an assault...someone thrown down, an attempted theft of a bonnet, a handkerchief in the mouth, etc....can't quite make out names or the streets involved, which would be very helpful.  Anyone better versed in the 18th century want to transcribe? Thank you kindly in advance!

on my face I think with my face, threw me down thrust her

fingers into my mouth & a handkerchief or something else, Mr [?]

Thomas Window opened & she ran my Cloak & Shoes off but lay by me

when they brought her back to me she appeared to be the same person I had

Oh my goodness, thank you SO much! There is just no way I would have gotten that from the handwriting I was seeing on the page. I have a few other snippets...is it best to post under this thread, or start new ones?

Post them on this thread if they belong to this case.

ADDED:  I have fixed the spelling of rec(eive)d

Thank you again. This is a longer trial, and I just can't make anything of most of his writing.

Thank you! Incredibly helpful. The abbreviations threw me for such a loop.

I thought this might be  “a cry of murder and fire”

John Soame    I was at Mr Tilerton heard cry of fire went out
