1709 French baptism
« on: Sunday 03 April 22 23:20 BST (UK) »
The one I'm interested in is the top one of these two.
The baptism of an Andre.
I've left the other baptism for comparison of letters - I think it's by the same person. There are many different hands in this register.
I'd like to see what you think Andre's surname is, and I can't make out the mother's name - her surname would also seem to be Andre.

Thanks

The father's surname looks like either DAIX or DAUX both of which seem to be present in the area.  The writer dots his Is but there seems to be an extra stroke.  I agree the mother's surname looks like ANDRE.  Her first name could be Ernelde - don't know if that exists, though it could be a variation on the feminine of Arnould which does seem to be present there.

Just some suggestions.

Thanks jayaygee.

I did wonder about the 'dot' or 'comma' in the  Daux name.
Is that a typical way to write 'x' at this time?
