Divorce Date.
« on: Thursday 07 April 22 13:26 BST (UK) »
It may sound a bit silly but I'm asking genuinely for  someone? They have asked me how they  would go about  finding their  own Divorce date abou/t 40 years ago now? They  are  not sure  of it  but apparently need it for Pension purposes.

Hi,

If you have access to Newspapers, it may have been reported.

https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/search/results/1850-01-01/1899-12-31?basicsearch=decree%20nisi&somesearch=decree%20nisi&retrievecountrycounts=false

Search by name  and Decree Nisi.  You can search the above and get results, although to see full results you have to pay.

Also many newspapers are available on Find my Past

I was going to say the same thing.  Local newspapers always reported divorces by publishing the date of the decree nisi.    Once granted, you're officially divorced. Normally, you apply for the "decree absolute" six weeks and one day after the decree nisi has been issued.

GenesReunited also publish many newspapers.
