There are a number of Patrick McNamaras from Tulla.

This one died aged 65 in 1877. He was from Lower Tyredagh.

Do you happen to know the religion or townland that your ancestor came from? Or even a place that it was close to in Co Clare?

Do you know the name of the child born in 1875?

There is a child, Anne born to a Patrick McNamara in 1875 but the mother's name is Bridget Connors McNamara.

I'm still looking though.

What was the name of your gt grandmother please?  Was it Eliza?  ETA I'm referring to the ancestor who went to Australia.

Welcome to RootsChat, Aleon Tessa :)

With Sinann's mention of Tyradagh in 1875, there is a possible death for a Patrick McNamara in Lower Tyredagh in 1877?

Added: Apologies shanreagh, this is exactly the same link you posted  :P

Can I ask, what is the source of info that Patrick was deceased by 1881? Did daughter marry in Ireland before heading off to Australia?

Monica

Hi. My gt grandmothers name was Eliza born april 1859,The last child was Bridget born 1875. She told my gf she used to visit his grave before coming to Australia in 1881. So naturally have assumed he died before she left. So between 1875 and 1881.Her being the eldest I have wondered how the other children fared and the mother being a widow. Eliza's baptism says from Tulla as does son Patrick. The other children are scattered over co clare. Quin. Galway.
The townsland are Tyreda or Tyredagh
I have looked up that Patrick McNamara who died at Tyredagh. Does not give enough information though does say coroners inquest. Wonder what that means. Also if he was 65yrs at time of death that makes him 44yrs at the time of Eliza's birth. Thought it a bit old for those days tho maybe a second marriage. John b 1868 and Bridget supposedly went to America. But have no proof just family talk. They were too young to have gone at the same time as Eliza. Hope this makes sense and you can give me a few ideas. Thanx Aleon Tessa

In 1963 a Jim (James) McNamara Tyredagh  Tulla died in a field on his farm near to the spot his father had died many years before. His brother also collapsed and died some year earlier.
The death cert gives Jim's age as 82 but ages on death certs are often incorrect.

Not sure any of this is relevant just throwing it out there.

There is a second Patrick McNamara in the right area
a son Daniel born 1868 mother Anne Doyle

Could you please list the names of Eliza's siblings please
Have you found the death of Margaret Higgins McNamara, could you advise when this was pl?

Have you looked on the 1901/11 census to see if any of the siblings of Eliza, and/or Margaret appear there.  I usually sort by age......the older ones may be Eliza's siblings who remained in Ireland.

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

PS the reason that the later death put up by Sinann is of interest is that the death of Patrick McNamara I put up seems to have been the cause of an inquest because of a sudden death.  Of course if Eliza had no brother called James then this link may not be to anyone of her immediate family.

hi again, I forgot to mention his Religion is Catholic. I haven't yet found any marriage or death certificates of either Patrick and Margaret McNamara, or any of the other siblings.  Most of information about children's births are thru baptisms. thanks aleon tessa. Also no James in family that I have found.
