Poulton Bottle Manufacturers, 12 Galleywall Road, Bermondsey, London

Hello!  I'm not having much luck so far, so I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me find out some info about Poulton Bottle Manufacturers based at 12 Galleywall Road, Bermondsey, London? 

My Granddad worked as a Bottle Washer and I have just purchased the 1921 Census and now I have the name and address of his employer - as above.  I have looked at a few old maps but none have buildings numbered, but I think it was possibly the same side and end of the road as the cocoa factory called W S Shuttleworth & Co (and that is only based on the fact that a more modern map shows that even numbers are on that side, starting at the Southwark Park Rd end).

Number 12 was on the west side, near the Southwark Park Road end, so above the Chapel marked on this 1915 map. Home of the Poulton family (still there in 1939):

Not sure how many Poultons were involved in the bottle manufacturing business but this Alfred John Poulton shows as living as 12 Galleywall Road on the 1925 Electoral Roll. Added: Fits with what you found Shaun from the 1934 directory.

Hello Shaun & Monica - interesting stuff!  So do you think this 'bottle manufacturing' was run as a home business rather than the size of a factory? It appears that 12 was a residential address? Nina

Perhaps he gave his employer's home address rather than his place of work?

The business address was 7 Almond Road. Poulton is listed there in directories as a bottle manufacturer, bottle merchant and as a haulage contractor.
