Weathered Gravestone
« on: Tuesday 26 April 22 13:15 BST (UK) »
Is anyone able to 'sharpen up' the attached image in the hope that a name or part of a name can be made out.

Someone told me ages ago that if the image was made into a negative and 'tweaked' (their words not mine) it might be possible.

Fingers crossed that someone can help.

It does not help you but I have found that when wandering round cemeteries it pays to visit in all sorts of weather conditions. Sometimes you need the sun to hit the stones just right, other times you need it to be wet or even raining. Family history can be a challenge even when you are not sat at a computer.  ;D

Thank you for replying, yes, I always take the sun into account when I take photos of gravestones but in this instance, as I live several hundred miles from the cemetery, it was taken by a volunteer at the cemetery which is in Greater London.

I tried but cannot find anything of use . Not even when inverted and "adjusted". Perhaps others will do better.

In the middle it looks like there is an "on" or an "om"  son of maybe but just a guess as really difficult.

I have tried all ways to make this clearer, working with a negative as well as a positive image. As you may be able to see, especially if you enlarge it, there is definitely writing there but I am unable to make it out.
